Many healthcare professionals wonder when a referral to an acupuncturist is appropriate. Very broadly speaking, acupuncture is a safe intervention for a wide variety of pain conditions, either as an adjunct to standard care, or as a worthy option when standard care is not preferred by the patient, or is not well-tolerated.
